About

Ciara Devereux

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist, with a private practice based in San Francisco that supports people from all walks and phases of life in finding inner peace and healing through talk therapy. I have nearly a decade of experience in the therapeutic world, ranging from community mental health clinics, Business Psychology consulting, to Private Practice therapy. My warm, humorous, curious, and non-judgemental style allows me to connect with and support all my clients, no matter the challenge or circumstance.

I approach therapy as a human, not just a therapist, first. I believe that sifting through your suffering with another person safely requires a deep trust and intimacy that can only be fostered through having an authentic therapeutic relationship with a whole, honest, and present person. I take a collaborative, narrative, and attachment based approach to therapy, believing the childhood experiences, as well as the stories and truths we have internalized about the world and ourselves impact how we operate within it. I believe healing starts with understanding our history, learning what we believe about ourselves because of it, and making meaning of it together is the path to change.

I currently see clients both virtually and in-person, who reside in California.

Reviews

  • “As a clinician, I trust Ciara implicitly. She is the first person I refer out to, not only for my own clients when I’ve taken extended leaves, but for my dearest friends. She is incredibly astute in her clinical judgement and offers a compassionate directness that is rare in this field. I feel privileged to call her a colleague.”

  • “I have seen 4 other therapists in my life prior to my work with Ciara, and no one has been as effective, bright, non-judgmental, and kind. She made therapy feel safe and worthwhile, and I am an entirely different person today with a better set of tools because of our work together.”

  • “Ciara has brought empathy, communication, and hope back into our marriage through our time in couples therapy. Her humor, kindness, and clear passion for this field made therapy feel less daunting, and we always felt like she was our biggest cheerleader while reminding us that we, as a couple, are teammates. She has a wisdom about her that you just can’t teach”.
